Emily '89 and Paul '82 Bell

Paul graduated with a BS and a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Emily received a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Paul was fortunate to be a senior during the 1981 National Football Championship season, going to all of the home games, the USC game in Columbia, and the Orange Bowl in Miami. Emily was a member of the Women's Soccer Club (before there was a varsity team), and was a skipper on the Sailing Team. Emily is a member of the Centennial class ('89) and has her name in one of the sidewalks on campus. They challenged Paul's niece to find Emily's name before she could graduate last year - not an easy task, since she didn't know Emily's maiden name.

After Clemson, Emily received a MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and later went to law school at the University of Connecticut, where she was (and still is) a big Lady Huskies basketball fan. She is a patent attorney with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in Tysons Corner. She still enjoys sailing and co-owns a boat with her parents on Saratoga Lake, NY, but doesn't get much time to sail it right now.

After several years in the chemical industry, Paul is now a patent examiner with the US Patent & Trademark Office in Alexandria. His hobby is brewing beer at home.

Paul and Emily have been on the Board of Directors of the Clemson Club for two years and hope to get more alumni and friends of Clemson involved in the club. It's a great way to get to know other members of the Clemson family and to give back to the University.

Bob Miller '79

Bob Miller graduated from Clemson in 1979 with a degree in Zoology. A native of Easley, SC, he grew up near Clemson and attended Clemson games throughout high school. Bob was a long punter in high school (but his terrible shank kept him focused on the value of his education!) and his cousin played for Frank Howard in the early 70's.
After graduating from MUSC in 1983, Bob attend VCU in Richmond to specialize in Orthodontics. After four years in the air force and an overseas tour in the Philippines, Bob came back to Virginia where he joined a practice in Charlottesville and Culpeper. He later branched off on his own, met his wife who is also an orthodontist, and they now practice together in Warrenton, Centreville, and Culpeper, Virginia, and live in Haymarket.
Bob and his wife both love to snow ski and enjoy spending time at the lake on jet skis. They have two boys, Ronan (4) and Jonas (2) whose favorite color is orange (there might be some brainwashing but don't tell them!)
Since Bob treats teens over two or three years, he really gets to know them well, and has, in the past, influenced them in their college decision and has had several patients attend Clemson! As a member of the Clemson Club Board of Directors, Bob hopes to continue his outreach to students and help them with local resources and events before, during and after the best years of their lives!
