Women's Alumni Council Print E-mail
In partnership with the Clemson Alumni Association, the Women's Alumni Council (WAC) is committed to enhancing the lifelong Clemson experience by serving, involving, and informing our alumni, current and future students and friends of the University. WAC is dedicated to strengthening the lifelong connection of alumnae to Clemson University. Their purpose is to enable women alumni and friends to remain involved and connected to Clemson. For more information on WAC, please visit http://www.clemson.edu/alumni/clubs/women/index.html.

The Baltimore/Washington, D.C. Women's Alumni Council has some exciting events planned for 2008! Please come and join us for fun times while meeting and networking with fellow alumnae. Our local representative is Shavonne Brown. Please contact her to get involved!

Back-to-School Supply Drive
We are collecting items to donate to a local D.C. school for the upcoming start of the 2008 school year. Pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks, paper, CD's, DVD's, folders, glue/sticks, markers, highlighters, poster board, crayons, clipboards, dry erase markers, Sharpies, tissue, hand sanitizer; these are just some of the things that every student needs for school.
We understand that budgets are a little stretched now, but whatever you can spare for another student, it would be appreciated. These items will be delivered to the school one week before classes begin.

Back-to-School Supply Update! (posted August 20, 2008)
We will be donating all collected items to the Appletree Institute, a charter school in Northeast Washington D.C. One of the pressing needs of the school this year, is children's books as, "Our current focus is on the development of an early literacy program for preschool and kindergarten children from all backgrounds."  To learn more about the school, visit their website at www.appletreeinstitute.org.  For those of you who have already started collecting the basic gamut of supplies, they would gladly accept those as well.

I am working with the principal on finalizing a date to deliver our collected supplies to the school. Thank you ladies for all the hard work you do! Let's help get these students off on a great start for the year!

Clemson College Fairs
According to the The Princeton Review's survey of 120,000 college students for "The Best 368 Colleges: 2009 Edition" revealed Clemson University students are happiest in the nation! And here's our chance to tell the Mid-Atlantic why! There are several upcoming college fairs in our area, and Clemson needs our help!  We are looking for volunteers for the fairs to serve as Clemson representatives. Be on hand to answer questions students, parents, and teachers will have about Clemson University and even share some unforgettable experiences with participants.

The dates for the fairs are:
1. October 13th (6-8 pm) at Albert Einstein High School, Kensington, MD

2. October 20th (6:30-8:30 pm) at Archbishop Spalding High School, Severn, MD

3. November 12th (6:15-8:30 pm) at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Baltimore, MD

Contact Shavonne@alumni.clemson.edu to volunteer for any of the college fairs and with any questions about the Back-to-School Supply Drive. I am eager to hear from you about any ideas you want to share or suggestions you may have. I am here to serve you! Together, let's make this year a great year for local Clemson Women!
